The Nation letter: Fox News advertisement
I wrote this letter to The Nation in response to their second back-cover advertisement (31 March, a sequel to the one from 17 February) from Fox News:
Like many of your readers, I felt a combination of dismay, disappointment, and disgust upon seeing the advertisement for Fox News on the back cover of The Nation’s February 17 issue. The arrival of your March 31 issue, with yet another Fox ad, was no less distasteful. What concerns me is not so much the possibility that the mainstream corporate media’s ubiquitous right-wing bias will infect your editorial content, but rather your newly ironic call for subscriptions. Your proclamation that “No one owns The Nation” may make good copy, but it now rings nearly as false as Fox’s “Fair and Balanced” slogan.
Your conscience may not be for sale, but it can apparently be rented.
